VFLA Staff Interviews - Volume II: Meet Three Of Our Staff Members

Hey so we decided we would interview some staff and let you get to know each of us a little more personally. Some staff do not want their photos shared at this moment and some do not want to be interviewed right now. Many people do not know who is who! So we hope this helps. Volume III will come out as soon as we can get it out. For now get to know three of our staff members.

Interview I

The following is from a staff member you guys might know as "Homospien Guy." He has helped edit some written band and deejay interviews. He manages the VFLA instagram, twitter, youtube and email. He also has done events in the past too.

Why did you decide to join VFLA as staff?

That's easy. I love deathrock, attend events and I am passionate about music and helping bands, Batz has made a space for goths and those that do not even really like goth music. That is something I appreciate. The most inclusive group of people. Proud of that.

What’s a memory from an event or something you did with VFLA that would be fun to share?

Uh, we have done a lot of things. I would say going to the movies as a group was fun. We saw a lot of movies . We have gone to the movies and seen Star Wars, Inside Out, The Hateful Eight, and many others. But I think Fast and Furious 7 was my favorite. I loved going to Release The Bats been going there for years. I knew Batz way way before VFLA.

How long have you been on staff?

Fuck I don't know ask Batz. Maybe like 6, 7 or 8 years

What are your favorite bands?

Who the fuck came up with this question?

Haha. Well Children on Stun. The Fall, Ausgang, 45 Grave, Horror Vacui and a shit ton more.

What do you want our followers to know? Or pick a quote?

Thank you for the support, and I hope you like the content we bring.. And thanks for dealing with my emo story's on our instagram. I am just a puppy in love with a girl that doesn't see me. I am sure some of our followers can relate hahahahahahaha

This quote is from an interview with the guitar God Rikk Agnew "And when punk came along we mocked it, but then it just hit our hearts and minds and souls" - Rikk Agnew

Do you stand for a particular cause?

Social justice and animal justice

No photos gaiz sorry.

Interview II

The following is from a staff member ya'll might know by "Nobody #8." They manage our instagram, twitter, and email. Also do the IRL promotion and attend events when they can.

Why did you decide to join VFLA as staff?

Because Batz and Michael Ray were doing cool shit and I wanted to be part of something.

What’s a memory from an event or something you did with VFLA that would be fun to share?

Going to the beach and the movies. But really I would like to share my favorite memories with the boss lady. Skateboarding with Batz. I thought it was so cool that she was all goth and shit but fucking skated like a beast. She even taught me some sick ass tricks. When her close friend pro skater Dylan Rieder passed away she took it hard. She has not skated since his passing in October 2016 - but she still remains in the skate community and teaches kids how to skate. She has also allowed me to help her teach kids to skate at skateparks a few times. So maybe some of these memories are just having gotten to know Batz and do cool shit with her. In 2018 we both donated 87 complete skateboards to Boards for Bros. With the help of skate companies like Alien Workshop, Girl, Element, Santa Cruz, and Chocolate. Batz knows these guys so it was cool to see how she could work with them and do something nice for the community for kids. Boards for Bros is a non profit made by skateboarders to help kids (girls and boys) get skateboards. Like dude some kids really need skateboarding in their lives. Skateboarding can save lives, just as much as music can save lives.

How long have you been on staff?

Since 2014

What are your favorite bands?

Christian Death (Rozz only), Gitane Demone Quartet, Crass, Dystopia and Sisters of Mercy.

What do you want our followers to know? Or pick a quote?

All staff on VFLA are specially chosen. We all spend hours doing things for our followers, djs, bands, and other things FOR FREE. We DO NOT GET PAID, OUR BOSSES DO NOT GET PAID. We do this because we love music and want to help others. We do not care about money, we care about people.

Do you stand for a particular cause?

Yes, people, animals, and research that needs to be done to help diseases and health issues.

Interview III

The following interview is with VFLA staff member you all might know as "Thing #6" They manage VFLA instagram, email, twitter, and youtube and also do more IRL promotion and events. Don't ask us why are staff named themselves this way haha. We also have a "Nobdody #1, and #9" and a "Thing #2"

Why did you decide to join VFLA as staff?

I don't know because they needed help. I thought I would help, and then VFLA grew on me. Everyone on staff is so wonderful.
