Mentella: Bands Come Together To Support College Students For A Mental Health Festival

In natural fashion, I have put something together for mental health for my college. Last year some of ya'll might remember the Suicide Awareness Mini Concert I put together! Alas, I bring you Mentella! A mental health festival being created for students of Golden West College set to take place virtually on May, 6th 2021. Every time I do something focused on mental health whether it be for school, or Goth Haus LA -- I love seeing how our community in music gets together and donates their time for important causes! I asked each band a question; "What made you decide to participate in Mentella for college students?" Below are the answers for each band! All these bands will be recording a special message just for students at the college!

Screaming Dead - England, UK

"It is because it's a cause very dear to our hearts. We've all suffered this trauma at some stage in our lives and because you're young people assume you never have a problem. In many ways it's much harder to deal with at a young age because people always think you can tough it out whereas the reality is you are at your most vulnerable when you're young xxxx”

Otzi - Oakland, California

"Ötzi is participating in Mentella because we’re aware of all the pressures that community college students face, and we celebrate prioritization of mental health. Balancing family, school and work pressures, students are doing so much to educate themselves, better their lives and enrich the community. It’s not just about grades and classes, it’s about the journey of education. Students are an inspiring group of people and deserve all the support we can give."

Tears For The Dying - Athens, Georgia

Adria of Tears for the Dying has left a beautiful video message in response to our question!

Chad Carrier - Torrance, California

Chad Carrier returns to Golden West College in support of Mental Health Awareness.

"I love to support anyone or group who is spreading awareness about mental health. Mental Health should not be something to be ashamed of or to be shamed for suffering from. We need to talk about it openly and help each other work through and hopefully minimize the effects of mental illness. If everyone works together, we can make this a better world for all."

Male Tears, Riverside, California

"We felt the event was for a good cause and the very thing we like to promote as personal mottos. We value the importance of mental health for the world."
