Deathrock Is Not Reviving III: Burning Image

Last year we started a segment that was created to help bands that play the deathrock genre. Each month we will share a band that plays the genre. Unfortunately, this segment had to be put on hold till now! After 6 months of a hiatus on this we are back to bring what we promised.

We are smaller, and more DIY - but one thing we can offer you is facts, truth and we promise to not mislead you. Lastly, Deathrock is NOT having a revival, it survives and thrives. The issue is that many Deathrock bands around the world are hard to find because they do not have a massive amount of followers, and some do not even have social media. It may be hard to find, but if you look for it you will find it. As someone once said "We are the underground, of the underground." We are starting this segment knowing we may get sh** for this, and we frankly don't give a fu**. We will not break our promise to our followers that we will set out to expose these bands. Each segment will cover a Deathrock band. We are trying to help the bands and the people by doing this -- it is the only way we know how to. We have no malicious intentions, just want to share these things.

Fun Fact: If a band has members that might dress like a deathrocker, that does not mean their music is deathrock. Just like if a band doesn't dress like a deathrocker, that does not mean their music is not deathrock.

Burning Image has been around for close to 38 years. Originally called "The Pictures" in 81'. Their band is identified as a deathrock band, and they hail from deathrock's home California. The lyrics in the music are the heart of the band and the music is the soul.

Here I would like to add some advice that Moe wrote in an interview because we feel it is relevant to this segment in so many ways. Bands get lost, and even other journalists and music labels stick a label on bands, and then comes that confusion of sound. Moe said it best.

My advice to new bands: 1. stay true to your sound and don't follow current music trends to try to fit in. 2. Be cool to your fans, they take time out of their lives and spend their money to watch you play. Be gracious and accomodating. 3. Have fun. Nothing worse than a bunch of egos ruining the band experience. - Moe Adame.

Now if you are bothered by this segment, we are not sorry. Go check out the band, and if you like it -- then go follow, go support, and share music!
